Summer Playlist + Thoughts
Summer is the time when one sheds one's tensions with one's clothes, and the right kind of day is jeweled balm for the battered spirit. A few of those days and you can become drunk with the belief that all's right with the world. (Ada Louise Huxtable)
Temperatures are on the rise and the smell of sunscreen is in the air. I have been embracing the Texas heat and going outside as often as possible. Fortunately, we are having what locals call a "mild summer" in Austin... highs of mid-90s are a refreshing treat here.
This time last year, my Mister and I were just getting settled after moving. And then we quickly headed off to Europe for our first trip abroad. That journey feels like forever ago. The 19 days we spent traveling were filled with magic, romance, and adventure. It was the stuff of summer love.
We didn't know a single person when we returned to Austin. I worked from home and he started his new job. We made very few friends, but I was ok with that. We were establishing a rhythm for our new home. Fast-forward to today and our days look slightly different. We have friends and plans, things to do and a long list of places to explore.
I still spend my days working from home, but on my new company. Since I'm alone a lot, I fill the quiet with podcasts and music. Podcast hosts are my mentors, Spotify and Pandora are my coworkers. Before we break for the holiday weekend, I thought I'd introduce you to a few friends I have been hanging out with lately. I hope you enjoy! Happy 4th of July!
