It Feels Good to Be Here
We wander for distraction, but we travel for fulfillment.
(Hilaire Belloc)
I can't even begin to explain the last few days in a way that would justify the experience, the characters, or the hours that have passed by. If I had to, I could write all my #reverb10 prompt responses on the last week - not the last year. I'm not going to because I want to reflect on 2010, but it's neat to know that I could.
Let me just say that Thanksgiving was peaceful. Remarkably quiet. I ate veggies, my mister had turkey. We worked, we relaxed. We were just us. Celebrating gratitude and enjoying downtime for the 3rd year in a row.
Since last Thursday, I've spent a few days with my best friend / college roommate in Las Vegas. We met 7 years ago, as randomly assigned roomies in the UNLV resident halls. It was love at first sight, and reflecting back on those days warms my heart. She and I are in very different places geographically, professionally and otherwise. However, we face many of the same pleasant surprises and confusing challenges as 25 year old women navigating this delightful thing called life.
Since leaving Las Vegas, I've been immersed. Arm and arm with @gwenbell & @caligater. The project has received a response beyond my wildest dreams, and it's only December 3. I encourage you to consider joining us. For one prompt, for daily writing, or something in between. Jeanne wrote a great beginner's guide if you are trying to decide if Reverb 10 is for you.
