Reverb 10.10 A Nurturing Leap

Think not of yourself as the architect of your career but as the sculptor. Expect to have to do a lot of hard hammering and chiseling and scraping and polishing. (BC Forbes)

Wisdom. What was the wisest decision you made this year, and how did it play out?

I quit my job on February 1st...

i quit

Before then, each day I went to work and completed a transaction. My arrival, time, effort, tears, frustration, ideas and execution—all in exchange for a paycheck. I adored my coworkers and I felt like leaving them would be an unforgivable abandonment. I feared that I wouldn't be able to find something better. I worried I would have to start over.

Thankfully, I was so unimaginably wrong. I'm lucky enough to have landed with a company that is full of brilliant people with great hearts. We have our challenges and growing pains, but those are mixed in with celebration, laughter and appreciation.

I'm contributing, discovering my talents and strengths. In a time when people are suffering to find work, I am grateful to have found a company that nurtures me and encourages me to grow.
