Springtime Shifts
Obstacles can't stop you. Problems can't stop you. Most of all, other people can't stop you. Only you can stop you. (Jeffrey Gitomer)
The weather is warming up and fruit is coming into season. May has arrived, the promise of summer is finally on the horizon. At the start of this year, I was training for a half marathon and feeling optimistic about swimsuit season. With some recent bumps in the road, my workout regimen has given way to comfort food and ice cream.
I am working to extend acceptance, self-care and loving kindness to the body I travel within daily—despite its flaws, jiggly parts and warnings of wrinkles. It's easy to hide behind the blanket of winter. It's time to meet myself in the middle. To forgive myself for having that extra bowl of Ben & Jerry's. To take enough ownership and feed my body's true cravings for movement, hydration, healthy foods and plenty of sleep.
Spring is nature's a time of transition and transformation. It's parting from what's old, dead and done. It's the welcoming of new life, warmth and sunshine. It's the perfect time to start making small, lasting shifts in the direction of my dreams.
