Setting Intentions for Summer

Summer is Officially Here

On the first day of summer, my husband and I packed up our family and traveled home to Austin. Zipping up suitcases, putting snacks in backpacks, reflecting on the memories collected after a few fun days at the lake.

Our first summer vacation with three kids (five and under) was a blast!

We spent Father’s Day with my dad at his lake house in North Carolina. We ate juicy watermelon and fresh corn on the cob. We slathered the kids in sunscreen, slapped on lifejackets, and tossed them into the lake morning and night. After lake swimming, we all warmed up in the “cooled down for kids” hot tub.

Summer is officially here and I’ve never been more delighted.

What Are Your Summer Intentions?

Setting intentions is a practice of naming your desires. Your intentions act like anchors that keep you centered in the energies you want to embody and call into your life.

You can set intentions for the moment, day, week, month, moon cycle, season, year, or even decade. There are no rules. You get to experiment and choose what works for you.

In my signature coaching program, A Year of Calm, we begin each season by setting intentions.

Today, I am extending the same invitation to you. Allow your intentions for this summer to arrive without overthinking. Tune into your intuition and explore the following questions.

Three Questions to Set Your Summer Intentions

Pause, breathe, connect with your inner wisdom, and answer these three prompts:

  • What are my intentions for this season?

  • How do these intentions feel in my body?

  • How can I embrace these intentions through the summer season?

Here Are My Intentions for Summer 2022

When I close my eyes and settle into the energy of this summer, here’s what comes through…

Sunshine. Sleeping in. Lots of water. Easy, fresh meals. Reading for enjoyment and expansion. Less scrolling. More sharing. Clearing out clutter to make space in home and work. Morning walks. Strengthening the body. Getting dressed. Noticing what feels good in the moment. Lingering there.

These intentions feel cool and gentle in my body. They are light, yet grounded. They feel spacious with a hint of aspiration. These summer intentions put a soft smile on my face. I know that when I connect with them, I will bring the summer I desire into form.

I can embrace these intentions by connecting with them as an anchor, not a checklist. Rather than trying to achieve, I will linger in the joy. I will delight in whatever this summer has to offer.

Ask Yourself this Question, “At the End of Summer, How Do I Want to Feel?”

Close your eyes. Breathe. See yourself in September. How do you want to feel? What energy do you want to embody? What experiences do you want to look back on? Setting intentions for the summer will help you manifest this moment at the end of the season.
