Lessons from London: Solo Travel, Trusting Intuition, and Finding Magic in the Unknown
I’m reflecting on my solo trip to London, where I faced both nerves and excitement after years without travel. Hear how this experience helped me reconnect with a part of myself I thought I had lost. By trusting my intuition and embracing the unknown, I hope to inspire you to lean into your own inner wisdom.
Reviving a Sense of Self-Reliance
After years of having babies and focusing on family, I boarded a direct flight from Austin to London for Bella Lively’s IVFT Grad Retreat. It’s been so long since I’ve traveled abroad, and leading up to this trip, I wasn’t just packing my bags—I was packing nerves, questions, and wondering if I could still do it.
Spoiler alert: I could. And, in a way, that was a big part of why I went. If you’ve ever felt like you’ve lost pieces of yourself, I totally get it. This trip was a reminder that just because you haven’t done something in a while doesn’t mean it’s gone for good.
Leaning In and Letting Go
Traveling solo wasn’t just about the logistics of getting from one place to another. It was about proving to myself that I could still do this thing that used to bring me so much joy. After years of being in the routine of kids, work, and home life, I wondered if I’d still enjoy hopping on a plane and going somewhere far away.
I promise, whether through travel, creativity, or something else, the things that once brought you joy are still there and they’re waiting for you to come back for a visit.
Traveling Solo with Intuition
From booking a last-minute blowout (such a good call!) to wandering into a café during its soft launch to bumping into a friend without planning it, everything aligned in London when I just trusted the flow.
It reminded me that magic happens when you don’t over-plan and allow things to unfold. If you’ve been feeling the need to release control and follow your inner wisdom more, now’s the perfect time to try.

Facing Fear and Finding Ease
Of course, it wasn’t all rainbows and butterflies. Before leaving, I had a lot of nerves. Would I be okay without my husband who usually handles travel details? Could I navigate the trip alone?
When I got to the airport, those worries faded and I slipped into that old version of myself who loved travel. That’s what I want you to hear—those parts of you that feel lost? They’re still there, just waiting for the right moment to shine.
Sometimes the hardest part is saying yes. For me, it was actually booking the trip. Once I was on my way, it all fell into place in the best way.
Trusting the Unplanned Flow
At the retreat, Bella reminded us that we don’t always need structure to find meaning. Sometimes the free-flowing moments offer the most insight. And that’s true for life, too. Trust your intuition. Trust the journey. If you’re willing to let go and see what happens, you might surprise yourself!
If you’re stuck or need clarity, book An Hour of Intuition. We’ll connect with your inner wisdom and explore the answers already inside you. In the meantime, remember: no matter how long it’s been since you’ve done something, you can find your way back.
