Try. What do you want to try next year? Is there something you wanted to try in 2010? What happened when you did / didn't go for it?
Earlier this month, I cultivated a list of 11 things to get rid of in the new year. To mirror that post, here are 10 things I want to try in 2011.
1. Artist Dates. I used to go on artist dates often - exploring little boutiques, watching artsy movies and journaling in coffee shops. In 2011, I want to get back to this practice of nurturing my creative side.
2. Reading More. I adore books, but rarely made time to read in 2010. This year I want to savor the inspiration I've been collecting and dive into the juicy books lining my shelves.
3. Cultivating Wellness. This year I became a vegetarian (who occasionally eats fish) and I signed up for a 1/2 marathon. In 2011, I hope to take more steps towards healthy living by caring for my body and cultivating wellness.
4. Evening & Morning Routines. I keep telling myself that I'm going to create evening and morning rituals. This is the year to make that happen.
5. Getting Girlie. This past week I spent time with two of the most precious little girls on the planet. We played, shared lip gloss and held hands. They reminded me that some glitter and make believe goes a long way.
6. Taking Bad Pictures. I bring my camera everywhere, but often lose the nerve to start snapping. There's something about aiming for a great photo that leaves me feeling timid. This year I want to try to take lots and lots of pictures, knowing that some will be bad and others will capture the moment beautifully.
7. Owning My Feelings. Responsibility, forgiveness and passion have a way of healing people. It's time for me to apply this knowledge to a few situations in my life for which I've been blaming others.
8. Mantras & Positivity. In 2011, I plan to pour the positivity shines through this blog into my life offline with mantras and helpful reminders.
9. Embracing 75%. Overeating and portion control have been challenges for me in the past. However, I plan to listen to my body in 2011, drink plenty of water and eat to 75% fullness at mealtime.
10. Enjoying Imperfection. A lot of my worrying comes from a desire for perfection. I get concerned that things won't be as wonderful and amazing as they could be. Next year I want to enjoy life as it is—flaws and imperfections included!
