Elevated Morning Rituals
Your morning rituals don’t have to be fussy or fancy to be elevated. Explore what you can do to connect with yourself as you begin your day. Here are a few of my favorite morning rituals:
Drinking my coffee in a self-heating Ember mug
Journaling in my One Line a Day: A Five-Year Memory Book
Reading one page out of The Pivot Year by Brianna Wiest
Reading non-fiction. Currently: The Creative Act by Rick Rubin
Reading fiction. Recently: Happy Place by Emily Henry and Annie Bot by Sierra Greer
Keeping my place with these brass page markers
Highlighting passages I want to revisit
Burning this candle from Le Labo
8 More Elevated Daily Rituals
Movement can be a ritual, or it can be something you have to do. A question I’m asking now that my back is healed: how can I add more ritual to exercise?
Getting dressed, putting on your makeup, and looking in the mirror before you leave for the day — I like putting my intentions for the month on a post-it on the mirror in my closet. I’ve also been writing them down at the top of each new to-do list in my notebook.
Preparing for client sessions by clearing my desk, getting notes ready, and taking some cleansing breaths. After sessions are complete, burning incense and walking outside.
Eating dinner with three kiddos ages 2, 6, and 7 isn’t much of a vibe, but I elevate the energy by playing jazz most evenings. This is my favorite playlist to have on in the background.
Blessing of the Forks Ritual — transform your everyday tasks into meditative moments that infuse your actions with love, appreciation, and happiness.
Drinking water with the intention to hydrate, connect with your body, and access your intuition.
Winding down in the evening with a cup of tea and book on Kindle. Relaxing with Flewd bath soaks.
Giving yourself tech-free time to disconnect from screens. I’ve been leaving my phone in my bag or in my car and roaming carefree.
A Year of Calm, A Year for You
You don’t need to download another self-help audiobook. You need to listen to your intuition.
Imagine how it’d feel to slow down, breathe, and reconnect to the peace within you.
I created A Year of Calm to take you from feeling blocked and broken to being centered and connected.
How to Bring Rituals to Daily Life
Elevating your rituals will make them more meaningful and impactful. The key is to pay attention to what feels good and find ways to make space for more of it.
Being consistent (not perfect!) is a key to ritual. Some rituals are only practiced once a lifetime (like a quinceañera) and some are practiced daily. You can use the time horizon that works for you.
You’ve heard of habit stacking, but what about ritual stacking? Take the same idea and shift it to your rituals by stacking rituals to things you’re already doing in your days.
Remember that simplicity is a luxury. Elevating your daily rituals is not about making things more elaborate or time-consuming (unless that’s your joy!) instead, look at what you can take away from your routines and find more space for elevated ritual.
