How to Overcome Overwhelm and Find Alignment with Your Inner Voice of Intuition
Do Listen to Your Voice of Intuition?
Your intuition, or inner voice, is a life-changing resource that’s always available. It can help with big decisions, but it can also support you with tiny choices every day. Learn what intuition is, how to use it to overcome overwhelm and find alignment using your intuition, and what it’s like to work with an intuition coach.

What is Your Voice of Intuition? And How to Access It.
Your intuition is the inner voice of wisdom within. When you start listening to your intuition and acting on the guidance you receive, you will feel less overwhelmed and more aligned in the everyday. There isn’t one “right” way to access intuition. Try this sequence, then adjust it in ways that feel good to you:
Turn your focus inward. Close your eyes, steady your breath, and exhale deeply when thoughts arise. Take your awareness to the space inside where you've heard your intuition before. (It could be the chest, belly, or somewhere else.)
Tune into your quiet knowing. Go into receiving mode and listen. Your intuition might show up with words, images, sensations, or even complete stillness. This is perfect. Ask your inner voice open-ended questions — and if anything is unclear or unsatisfying to your mind, follow up with more questions.
Trust with open curiosity. Your intuition is part of you. It wants what is best for you. It believes you and believes in you. Experiment with acting on the insights you receive. Play with trusting what comes.
An Intuition Quote to Inspire You
One of my favorite quotes about intuition comes from the book Women Who Run With the Wolves by Clarissa Pinkola Estés —
“Practice listening to your intuition, your inner voice; ask questions; be curious; see what you see; hear what you hear; and then act upon what you know to be true. These intuitive powers were given to your soul at birth.”
How to Use Your Intuition to Overcome Overwhelm
Do you get overwhelmed easily? Me too.
Growing up, I felt it when I had lots of schoolwork and pressure to do well in swimming. In college, I felt it when I was juggling a full course load and big work projects. In my career, I felt it whenever my manager’s expectations were high. In motherhood, I’ve felt it in the early days with newborns when my hormones were unsettled and every little thing felt like a big deal.
Next time you feel overwhelm coming for you, try this:
Pause. Breathe. Ask your inner wisdom, “What do I need?”
Listen, listen, listen to what you receive. You might hear a single word within your awareness. You could see an image or a scene playing like a movie.
Acknowledge the overwhelm and gently, lightly act on the wisdom from your intuition.
How to Use Your Intuition to Find More Alignment in Work, Motherhood, Love, and Laundry
You can use your voice of intuition to find more alignment in all areas of your life.
At the office — use it in small ways, like deciding when to circle back with a client or which email to answer next. Use your intuition in big ways, like when to ask for a raise or promotion.
In motherhood — our society has a huge list of shoulds that muddle the information we receive as parents. Tune into your inner wisdom first before looking outside for answers.
In relationships — ask your intuition for guidance when you’re looking to connect with your partner. If you’re single, use your inner wisdom to help you find more joy in dating.
In everyday life — you can tune into your inner voice about anything! If folding the laundry is something you typically hate, then it could be an amazing topic to turn to your intuition about... see what your inner voice has to say about getting it done with ease.
Start Hearing Your Inner Voice Today
It’s hard to hear your intuition when your mind is running wild. Especially when you’re new to listening to your inner voice. Anytime you’re learning something new, it helps to go slow.
Get still and quiet. Breathe and exhale the thoughts away.
Try not to take yourself too seriously. Play, laugh, and enjoy the process. You’re not seeking serious perfection. You are seeking alignment and connection to your voice of intuition.
What’s It Like to Work with an Intuition Coach?
Clients say their intuition coaching sessions leave them feeling calm and grounded — with clarity about what to do next. One client (a business owner and mom of newborn twins and a toddler) said she felt energized like she just took a long nap!
The calls are audio-only, on Zoom, and begin with conversation. We discuss your goals, challenges, and any questions you have for your inner wisdom. Then we go deep into your intuition through a process that feels like a guided meditation and breathwork.
