The Sweet, Simple Things of Life
Feeling stressed about the holidays? Pause, breathe, and reconnect. In this short and soothing episode, I’m guiding you through a meditation to help you focus on the sweet, simple things in life. Tune in and find your center.
The Passing of Time is Fascinating
The end of 2020 is creeping up and I’ve been reflecting on all the things. So much has changed this year and I’m dreaming about what’s to come in 2021. How are you feeling about the start of 2021 approaching?
Also, on a practical level I still feel like I have presents to buy and Christmas is in a few days. So maybe I’m giving New Year’s gifts this year?
The Sweet, Simple Pleasures of Life
My December retreat, Align 20/21, is coming in for a soft landing. The theme for week four is Simple.
After finding center in week one, we turned to what felt easy in week two. Then we got steady last week. Now it’s time to seek the sweet, simple pleasures of life.
This week is a reminder to drop what feels complicated and complex. Allow your life to flow towards simplicity whenever possible.
What does simplicity look like for you? On a typical Tuesday? During a “normal” holiday season? Through the holidays when we’re in a worldwide pandemic?
The definition of simple is: easily understood or done; presenting no difficulty.
In the past few weeks we’ve talked a lot about east. And doing one thing at a time. When I was creating the retreat, I really didn’t realize how intertwined simple and easy are, but now I’m thinking about them as sisters. Supportive. Connected. When simple steps up to the plate, easy is right there behind her. And when we’re looking for easy, the pathway is almost always through her sis, simple. Does that resonate?
The quote I selected for this week is from Laura Ingalls Wilder,
“It is the sweet, simple things of life which are the real ones after all.”
Four Words to Anchor You: A Simple Ritual
The ritual for this week is about finding four words that can serve as a guide for you. My four words are Celebrate. Cultivate. Release. Receive. They are really at the heart of everything I’m doing.
There’s always something to celebrate. There’s always something to cultivate. I have plenty to release, but normally it’s my shoulders, my grip, my gaze. And when it comes to receiving, so often it is simply about being open, allowing, and accepting.
Even if you’re not participating in the retreat, I hope this episode has inspired you to embrace simplicity in ease, accessible ways through the end of this year.
