Six Ways to Be Intentional Every Day
Being intentional sounds nice, but is it something I can actually do every day? I’m sharing six simple ways to bring more intention into daily life. Learn what it means to be intentional, why it matters, and how this practice shows up for me. Walk away with ideas to slow down, tune in, and create more meaning in your everyday.
What Does It Mean to Be Intentional?
Being intentional is about showing up for life with purpose and presence. It’s knowing what you need to feel satisfied, aligned, and fulfilled—and then choosing to honor that. It’s the opposite of running on autopilot.
Why You Might Want to Try Being Intentional
Being intentional doesn’t mean doing more or adding pressure to your days. In fact, it’s often about doing less—saying no, releasing unnecessary effort, and giving yourself permission to prioritize what matters.
If you’re feeling disconnected or stuck in the monotony of daily routines, this practice might be exactly what you need. Intentional living creates room for rhythm, clarity, and meaning.
What Being Intentional Looks and Feels Like
Being intentional means checking in with yourself and tuning into what you need. It’s flowing with life as it is, rather than forcing your way through. The practice isn’t about perfection—it’s about showing up for yourself in a way that feels true to you.
Sometimes it’s as simple as checking the weather, noticing the moon phase, or paying attention to what’s on your calendar. Other times, it’s pausing to breathe, let go, and watch for inspiration.
Does it always feel easy? No. Some days, being intentional is smooth and effortless. On other days, it’s about asking for help, slowing down, or giving the bare minimum instead of 100%.
Six Ways to Be Intentional Every Day
Being intentional is a practice. It’s not about getting it “right” or achieving a certain result. It’s about cultivating connection and momentum in your life.
Start with one or two of these and notice what shifts for you.
1. Check in with your inner wisdom
Pause. Breathe. Ask your intuition, “What do I need?” and listen for the wisdom you receive.
2. Connect with your body
Notice how you feel. How is your energy? Are you tense or relaxed? Warm or cold? Do you need a glass of water, a stretch, or a nap? Let your body guide you.
3. Celebrate the good in your life
Acknowledge the good, no matter how frivolous or silly it seems. Say thank you. Smile. Do a little dance. Pat yourself on the back. Let yourself feel joy in the sweet, simple things of life.
4. Cultivate more of what you want
Pay attention to your desires. Move toward what feels good. Make choices that align with where you are now and where you want to go.
5. Release your grip
When you notice that you’re trying to force something, pause. Can you walk away and come back later? Can you ask for help or let someone else take the lead? Sometimes surrendering is the most intentional thing you can do.
6. Receive what flows to you
Accept when help is offered. Allow kindness and opportunities to come your way. Notice serendipity and kindred connections when they happen.
Remember, When You’re Trying to Be More Intentional…
You don’t need to get this perfect. Start small and let it grow over time. Being intentional isn’t about achieving more—it’s about feeling more aligned, grounded, and at ease in your daily life.
