Returning from Maternity Leave and How to Gain Forward Momentum After a Big Change

After a big life change—like a new baby, career move, or another transition—there’s no “going back” or “bouncing back.” The only way to go is forward! I’m sharing what I’ve learned about gaining momentum after maternity leave, with ideas to align with your intuition and feel grounded as you step into what’s next.

A Shift in Perspective: There’s No “Bouncing Back”

After a big change—whether it’s a new baby, a career shift, or another life transition—there’s often pressure to “bounce back” or “get back on track.” But here’s the truth: you aren’t meant to go back to how things were.

Instead, think about moving forward. Invite growth, expansion, and progress. Even a small shift in language can make a big difference.

4 Ways to Gain Forward Momentum After a Big Change

These ideas will help you feel a sense of progress and flow as you step into this new chapter:

  1. Give yourself permission to be imperfect. Things won’t always go smoothly—and that’s okay. Forward momentum doesn’t require perfection.

  2. Take your time and expand your deadlines. Be kind to yourself as you adjust to this new phase. There’s no rush.

  3. Notice what feels good. Pay attention to the small things that light you up. Lean into those feelings, and take care of yourself along the way.

  4. Ask your intuition for guidance. Start with small decisions. Close your eyes, take a deep breath, and ask, “What do I need?” or “What feels right?” Trust what comes through.

Ready to Step Into What’s Next?

If you’re feeling called to move forward with more ease, flow, and alignment, I’d love to work with you.
