Welcome the Fall Equinox and Refresh Your Routine with These 4 Rituals

Now is the time to welcome the season and breathe new life into your daily rhythms. I’m sharing four simple rituals to help you refresh your routine, connect with intuition, and find more alignment this fall season.

Welcome the Autumnal Equinox

On this day, the amount of sunshine and darkness is exactly the same. We’ve reached the natural tipping point — from today forward, the days get shorter and the year is winding down.

As you’re reading this, pause and start to deepen your breath. Find your center and give a small energetic welcome to this season that is arriving.

One of my favorite books to revisit throughout the year is The Spirit Almanac: A Modern Guide to Ancient Self-Care by Emma Loewe and Linsday Kellner. In it, they share ancient rituals and modern practices for each season.

4 Rituals to Add to Your Routine this Autumn Season

The transition from one season to the next can be a busy time. If you’re caring for children who are back in school, your routines are already getting refreshed! Depending on where you live, you may have noticed the sun is starting to set just a bit earlier and there may be cooler weather in the forecast. (Here in Austin that’s not the case, but a girl can dream about #sweaterweather.)

Consider what you’re hoping to get from the fall season. How do you want to feel as you flow through it? From there, consider adding these supportive rituals to your routine:

  • Connect with comfort. Light candles. Wear slippers. Make yourself tea. Read a good book. Lately, I’ve been enjoying collections of short stories. Five Tuesdays in Winter by Lily King and You Think It, I'll Say It by Curtis Sittenfeld.

  • Complete and clear out. The energy of this season is great for completing projects or clearing things out that are no longer serving you.

  • Align with appreciation and abundance. Fall is a time of harvest. It’s a great time to focus on the good things in your life that you want to cultivate. Notice and celebrate when things fall into place, when you experience abundance and serendipity.
